I need some fashion advice. I'm going to a wedding at the end of winter as a formal wedding.?

I have a purple strapless dress with a slit up one side so you can see some leg.
I wanted to wear nude stockings so that my legs were warm.
What shoes can I wear that you will not see the stockings at the bottom where the toe and heel is.
And what do I wear on top to keep me warm that will go with a formal dress.
